Welcome
to my page….
I hope I can
provide you with a brief background about
me.
I was born and
raised in
Beirut,
Lebanon, many many years ago. As many, I
came to United State seeking higher
education. I began as an electrical engineer
major at
Cal
State LA, but I was forced to drop out
of university for financial reasons.
1982, I began
working in the business industry and
promoted to manager for four years with
Florsheim Shoes Company in Los Angeles,
CA. In 1986, I became a sales manager for
three years with FGA Trading Co. in Lodi,
CA.
Nine years
later, I realized that I could not improve
my life status until I earn a college
degree. Thus, I enrolled at the
College of the
Sequoias (COS) in 1989. I began as
business and marketing major, but I quickly
switched my major to Math/Science. 1993 was
a busy year for me; I received my Associate
degree from COS in math and science, I began
tutoring mathematics and facilitated
pre-calculus, calculus first and second
semesters for the
MESA
Program at COS, I transferred to
Cal State
University, Fresno as a computer science
/math major, and I married my lovely wife.
1996, my first
son
was born and my college career took another
direction. At he same time, I accepted the
position of
MESA Director at the
College of the
Sequoias. 1998, we were blessed with
another child,
daughter. 1999, I received the MESA
Director of the Year honor and I received my
Bachelor in Science Degree in Computer
Information Systems from
Strayer
University. 2001, I began teaching
computer coursers on a part-time basis at
COS and I began
to design and develop database programs for
local community college and
MESA Community College Programs. 2002, I
was selected as the Chair-elect for
National
Association for Minority Engineering Program
Administrators (NAMEPA) Region E. Also
in 2003, I received my Master degree in
Science in Master of Information Technology
from
American InterContinental University. In
addition, I was elected as the Chair for
Expanding Your Horizons at COS. However,
because of budget cuts, I left COS and I
became the fourth
MESA
Director at CSU Fresno. 2004, I became
the Chair for
NAMEPA
Region E and I began teaching part-time
at National
University, Fresno Center.
2005, I was
given the opportunity to share my skills and
technical experience in the classroom as a
full-time instructor at
Highline
Community College. It has been a
marvelous experience integrating many of my
technical experiences in the classroom to
improve students success and retention. The
college has giving me another opportunity to
use my administrative skills to co-direct
the
Tutoring Center.
On the personal
side, I enjoy many sports, various music,
and the great outdoors. Every summer, I look
forward to
travel and camping in as many places as
possible. I take pleasure in designing and
developing websites. Since I moved to
Washington State, I have been involved with
many local communities. At this time, I am
serving as one of the Executive directors of
Arab-American
Chamber of Commerce. I am also a member
of Arab
Center of Washington and serve on
Seattle Police Department Muslim, Arab, Sikh
(MSA) Advisory Council.
